Australia - Singapore submarine optical cable will be laid in February next year



Singapore Vocus Communications company releases the news that the submarine cable system ASC which can link Singapore and Australia will begin to lay in February 2018.

 

Alcatel submarine network company is located at Calais, France, mainly produces the required submarine cables. At the present, the related components will be produced at Greenwich plant in England, and it will be assembled before shipment to Singapore in December.

 

Vocus Communications said that the submarine cable laying will start in February next year and the final stage will complete in April and start to debug in May and June.

 

This August, Vocus Communications confirmed that the ASC submarine optical cable system would be completed ahead of schedule. Although a branch line was added to Christmas Island, it also can be operated in July 2018.

 

The ASC submarine optical cable system has a total length of about 4600 kilometers and the design capacity is at least 40Tbps. The amount of investment is about $170 million. And the main competitors of this system are Indigo and Trident submarine optical cable systems.
